What can you bring to the recycling center? Recyclable Items you can drop-off:

Paper

Keep the following types of paper separate because they are recycled into various products using different processes.

Corrugated cardboard, flattened and paper bags*
Cereal and boxboard, flattened*
Office paper and mail, keep shredded paper
Magazines and catalogs, glossy*
Newspapers and what comes in them*
Phone books*

Plastic

#1 bottles, clear or translucent*
#2 bottles, must have seam across bottom, keep milk jugs separate*
Plastic bags, all types accepted, including shrink wrap
Vinyl siding
Polystyrene foam, must be broken up and bagged
Loop carriers

Metal

Steel cans, including aerosol*
Aluminum, all sizes and types accepted*

Glass

Clear and lightly tinted green container glass*

Miscellaneous Items

NI-CAD and rechargeable batteries, auto and marine
Ink jet cartridges
Returnable cans and bottles

Remember . . . All items must be clean, rinsed out, with lids removed.

*Starred items can also be recycled in your curbside bin.

Reusable Items you can drop-off or purchase

Moving boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap, foam sheeting and packing p-nuts
Glass or plastic vases and canning jars
Craft materials such as: anchovy cans, film canisters, paper egg cartons, three ring binders and decorative tins

Why does MVFR’s recycling center take more materials than the curbside program?

MVFR is a non-profit organization dedicated to recycling all materials possible, even those that are marginally profitable (such as the non-starred items). MVFR offers volunteer opportunities and free educational programs to people of all ages and abilities.
